“I finally chose number 12. I guess it’s every one’s favorite.”
The Number Twelve Looks Like You‘s latest release – “Worse Than Alone” is another great album by this New Jersey mathcore band.
The album starts off with a chaotic track filled with screams, growls, and time signatures that are all over the place. It continues on with each track sounding a bit different from the last but all having that Number Twelve awesomeness built in. There is even a little interlude with some programmed drums that fits in nicely.
I would have to say that they expand a bit more with the vocals on this album than other albums. Some good, some not so good. There are more clean vocals than previous albums, but not in a bad way. There are some Steve Austin style vocals in there as well as some hardcore style spoken vocals.
The quality jazz break downs that come unexpected after a nice grind beat really keep the listener entertained. The beginning of “If They Holler, Don’t Let Go” carries a crazy stomping beat that makes you just want to punch your mom in the face and keep on bushwhacking.
The worst thing about this album though would have to be the lyrics. Songs about New Jersey just don’t match up to songs about pussy walls
If you want to listen to an album that can jump 3-4 genres in a matter of 3 minutes, then this is for you. If you like drummers that sound like they have 4 arms, then this is for you. Overall, this album will rock your jazzy little face off only to puke in it and then slap it back on.
“what you need is a glass of instant smile” – That will go great with the glass of instant AWESOME I just received.
This cover art looks strikingly similar to the new iwrestledabearonce…
jumping genres is all fine and good. These are people still in their early 20′s. How memorable is it? can you sing it to yourself while not having it on hand? Or is it technically proficient without being that memorable? Good or not? give me a goddamned opinion.
